Fantastic Four Star Miles Teller Promises We’ll See The Classic Costumes In The Reboot

Even before the release of any official footage or plot details, fans were critical of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot for its apparent dismissal of the source material in favor of a more "grounded" and "realistic" take on the classic Marvel property. Comments from actress Kate Mara - in which the new Invisible Woman stated that Trank had urged her and her co-stars not to read comics - certainly didn't help, and the absence of several recognizable elements of the Fantastic Four (such as their costumes) in the first trailer only added fuel to the fire.

Even before the release of any official footage or plot details, fans were critical of Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot for its apparent dismissal of the source material in favor of a more “grounded” and “realistic” take on the classic Marvel property. Comments from actress Kate Mara – in which the new Invisible Woman stated that Trank had urged her and her co-stars not to read comics – certainly didn’t help, and the absence of several recognizable elements of the Fantastic Four (such as their costumes) in the first trailer only added fuel to the fire.

Those upset about the costumes in the new film – which look more like containment suits than traditional superhero garb – can now rest assured, because Miles Teller, who plays Mr. Fantastic himself, has promised that we will in fact see the classic costumes on screen when all is said and done. In a new interview with Screen Crush, Teller noted that while we’ll see the “beta” suits for the majority of the film, they won’t be the only ones that appear:

“These are the beta versions of the costumes, which is great… But yeah it would be very odd if the Fantastic Four didn’t don the traditional costumes. You’ve got to. There is some servicing there. You’ve got to give that to the fans. That’s what it’s all about.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what those new outfits look like when Fantastic Four hits theaters on August 7th, 2015. Directed by Josh Trank, the film stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Toby Kebbell, Reg E. Cathey, and Tim Blake Nelson.
