Packing enough special moves to sink a ship, tense one-on-one combat and, of course, Fatalities, the sizzle reel is wonderful fan service to the franchise’s loyal and passionate community. Much like the studio’s previously fighter, Injustice: Gods Among Us, this latest installment of Mortal Kombat will bring about environmental destruction, too, meaning you can use the area around you to get a one-up on your opponent.

Over the past few weeks, Warner Bros. has gradually been peeling back the layers of the sequel’s monumental roster, which stretches beyond the parameters of the video game industry by including the likes of Jason and Predator. In fact, more recently, the tenth iteration heralded the addition of Erron Black and Liu Kang.

Such an approach is reminiscent of the way Nintendo handled the character announcements for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, though Mortal Kombat X is a ways away from the family-friendly fun of The Big N’s mascot brawler.

Mortal Kombat X is due to arrive across console platforms and PC on April 14, and it’s understood that High Voltage Software will handle the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game as NetherRealm double down on the current-gen and PC release.

Tell us, are you excited to jump into the studio’s anticipated brawler next week?
