11) Baby’s Fakeout

Speed’s “Odessa Steps” moment is a manipulation sandwich. When a baby carriage is put directly in the path of the bus, the tension hits a fever pitch. When Annie runs right into that carriage, you’re horrified at the prospect of what will become of its passenger. And when it’s revealed that there wasn’t actually a baby in the carriage, you remember the absurdity of the movie you’re watching, so of course the carriage owner was simply transporting recycling cans in the strangest way imaginable.
