NY woman learns her friend’s neighbour is dead, so they decide to do something ‘absolutely disrespectful’ and post it

Another day, another influencer finding themselves in the crosshairs of TikTok after doing something questionable. This time it’s a New York influencer who allegedly broke into their dead neighbor’s apartment for the sake of content.

TikToker Kiley Skeff posted a video in which she and a friend allegedly broke into the apartment that had apparently belonged to the friend’s dead neighbor. While Kiley has since taken down the original post, TikTok has already done its thing, with numerous screen recordings and reuploads shared on the platform, along with other creators stitching their responses at the end.

In clips shared by other creators, Kiley says that she went to visit her friend, whose neighbor “died about two years ago.” She claims that the apartment has not been cleared out yet, and so the friends decided to “push open the door.” The clip then cuts to Kiley and her friend, apparently in the apartment of the deceased neighbor.

The dark apartment certainly looks abandoned. There’s no sign of life inside, and dust and dirt seem to cover the ground. At one point, the women find an old newspaper from 1990, which is shown to the camera.

The backlash is severe

The video seemingly didn’t get the response Kiley and her friends were expecting, as people quickly called the group out. Popular TikToker “@daadisnacks,” who is infamous for humbling influencers, recorded a response to Kiley: “You are a grown-ass adult who does social media for a living, and you need to ask your followers if it’s illegal to do this,” he exclaims in apparent disbelief.

He continues, claiming the home might not even be abandoned and pointing to NYC probate laws, “but god forbid somebody who just moved here do two minutes of research before turning this woman’s home into a treasure hunt.”

Another TikToker called Taylor Paré asked, “Why did those girls think that they could do that?” She went on to label the group’s actions as “absolutely disrespectful.” Both Paré and daadisnacks drew attention to the fact that Kiley was not a New York native: “So this is why New Yorkers hate transplants btw.” Paré wrote in the caption.

It’s unclear whether Kiley Skeff will face repercussions for her actions, but commenters are eager to see the law get involved: “I need the update where she gets arrested,” wrote one person. Others claimed that, even though the property seemed abandoned, what they did was still “Trespassing, breaking and entering.” Others added theft, as it looks like, in the original video, the women took some items, like the newspaper, out of the apartment.
