Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Promo Art Defaces The Heroes

Unlike in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the Avengers are hailed (at least stateside) as villain-conquering heroes, the world of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice appears to cast superheroes in a much less favorable light. Perhaps that's only to be expected, given the catastrophic amount of damage Superman (Henry Cavill) did to Metropolis while duking it out with General Zod (Michael Shannon) in Man of Steel. But Warner Bros. and DC are definitely playing up the public's dissatisfaction with crime fighters in new promo art for the blockbuster.

Now, if you’re one of those geeks who complained on some sites about yesterday’s vague official synopsis giving away plot points from the film, maybe you should avoid the promo art because, believe it or not, the art may actually tease some aspect of the movie. Shocking, I know.

Anyway, Heroic Hollywood dropped the new art, which covers the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader (Ben Affleck) in street graffiti, doubtless to indicate that neither is exactly in good standing with the general population of their respective cities, though the Dark Knight has a much better rep. After all, some people happened to be in all those buildings that Superman decimated during his high-speed fisticuffs with good ol’ genocidal Zod.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 26, 2016.

Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis’s most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. And with Batman and Superman at war with one another, a new threat quickly arises, putting mankind in greater danger than it’s ever known before.
