A company known for its various gaming and computer accessory brands (Tritton, Gameshark, Saitek, Eclipse, Cyborg), Mad Catz, has today announced the formation of a new game development studio, ThunderHawk Studios.

Hoping to work their way from the accessories market and into the development, publishing and distribution of their own games the internal game development studio will focus on creating a series of MMO flight simulation games, with the first title expected to launch in 2012. This announcement actually sounds like it could go well for the company as they can, of course, make accessories for the games themselves.

“The addition of flight simulation games should leverage the market share leadership and global distribution enjoyed by our flight simulation hardware products,” said Darren Richardson, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Mad Catz Interactive, Inc.

No other details about the first game that the company plans to release were given, but more news can be expected soon.
