Guerrilla Games, the creative minds that created and nurtured the Killzone franchise on PlayStation platforms, is plotting a course for uncharted territory with its upcoming open-world RPG Horizon: Zero Dawn. As one of the more memorable announcements coming out of E3, there’s already a ton of excitement around the PS4 exclusive, which is being built as a single-player experience.

That’s according to Guerrilla Art Director Jan Bart Van Beek, who acknowledged that while Zero Dawn will incorporate some social features, the new IP will give the player free reign to explore its stunning environments. In an interview with GamesRadar, Van Beek revealed that “the core of the game is a single player experience,” meaning that Guerrilla’s adventure game will chart the same path as the likes of Fallout and Skyrim and ditch any multiplayer components.

Set in a post-post-apocalyptic world, Horizon: Zero Dawn imagines a world 1,000 years from now, in a time when humanity has been reduced to mere cave dwellers. In our steed, towering, mechanized robot dinosaurs rule the roost, and it’s understood that their origins, and how they affect the world around them, will have a particular bearing on the game’s storyline.

As for the flame-haired protagonist, players will assume control of Aloy, a highly-skilled hunter who exists as an outside in her own tribe. Throughout the course of the game, users will have the power to mould and shape the talents of Aloy via Zero Dawn‘s intricate perk system, meaning you can fine-tune your monster-hunting avatar as the plot thickens.

Though there is no word of a release date as of yet, we expect Horizon: Zero Dawn to make its debut on PlayStation 4 at some point in 2016.
