Melissa Benoist’s titular, unassuming protagonist may have stolen most of the limelight up until now when it comes to Supergirl‘s marketing campaign – and understandably so – but today CBS has offered the stage to the show’s supporting players with new high resolution images.

While they aren’t exactly going to stop the presses, the stills offer budding fans a nice primer ahead of the live-action series’ debut in the fall. Acting as foster sister to Benoist’s character of Kara, Alex is to be played by Chyler Leigh. Jimmy Olsen on the other hand, a potential love interest to our heroine, will be brought to life by Mechad Brooks, while Jeremy Jordan and Homeland‘s David Harewood are on board as Kara’s tech-savvy colleague and a no-nonsense special agent who reluctantly enlists Supergirl to protect the citizens of National City.

Melissa Benoist will take flight as Kara Zor-El when Supergirl premieres on October 26 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS. In the meantime, you can get acquainted with the leading cast members in the gallery below and be sure to check out our own thoughts on the pilot episode.

Supergirl is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El.

Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.
