New Images For Sam Mendes’ Spectre Highlight The Leading Ladies

For all the hullabaloo and speculation surrounding Christoph Waltz's involvement in the film as the don't-call-me-Blofeld antagonist, Spectre certainly comprises a robust line-up of female characters, toplined by Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris returing as Moneypenny, Stephanie Sigman and the award-winning Léa Seydoux. It's arguably one of the strongest and most eye-catching rosters for quite some time, and it's one that's been given the spotlight in USA Today's latest feature, which turns the attention to Sam Mendes' Bond Girls.

For all the hullabaloo and speculation surrounding Christoph Waltz’s involvement in the film as the don’t-call-me-Blofeld antagonist, Spectre certainly comprises a robust line-up of female characters, toplined by Monica Bellucci, Naomie Harris returing as Moneypenny, Stephanie Sigman and the award-winning Léa Seydoux. It’s arguably one of the strongest and most eye-catching rosters for quite some time, and it’s one that’s been given the spotlight in USA Today’s latest feature, which turns the attention to Sam Mendes’ Bond Girls.

Coupled with these new images are brief descriptions about each persona, and how they will have an influence on our leading 00 agent. First up is the enigmatic Madeleine Swann (Seydoux), a doctor and daughter of an assassin who strikes up a mutually beneficial relationship with Daniel Craig’s Bond. Reprising her role as the fellow spy is Harris, and it’s understood she will have a much more involved role in Mendes’ forthcoming and hotly-anticipated sequel.

Rounding out the foursome are Stephanie Sigman as the mysterious Estrella – little-to-no information has been revealed, thus indicating a central role – while Monica Bellucci will play widow Lucia Sciarra. Speaking in an interview with the outlet, Bellucci discussed how Daniel Craig’s super-spy will have a much more introspective part to play in Spectre.

He’s a James Bond who’s looking inside himself. He’s a James Bond who kills but is looking for death. It’s a struggle and because of that he becomes darker but at he same time more mysterious and even sexier.

Spectre will arrive in cinemas on November 6 in what could be Sam Mendes’ final stint at the helm of the spy series. Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz, and David Bautista round out the impressive, star-studded cast.

Tell us, are you excited to see the film open in a few months’ time?

In SPECTRE, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE. Sam Mendes returns to direct SPECTRE, with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007 for the fourth time. SPECTRE is produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, from a script by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade.
