It looks like we have our very first bad guy for Power Man to beat up in Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage TV show. Heroic Hollywood’s El Mayimbe was on fire when he paid a visit to Meet The Movie Press earlier today, and his latest scoop provides the name of the Marvel Comics villain that Mike Colter’s Cage will encounter in the first episode of the series: Cornell Cottonmouth.
Not to be confused with Serpent Society member Cottonmouth who battled Captain America, this guy is a drug dealer with sharpened gold teeth and super strength who was introduced in the pages of Power Man way back in 1974. Mayimbe suggested that he’ll most likely debut as a secondary villain, possibly connected in some way to Daredevil big-bad, Wilson Fisk.
Luke Cage is being lined up to be Marvel’s third Netflix TV series, and aside from Colter as the titular hero (who will be introduced in Jessica Jones), we haven’t heard any other casting info thus far. In fact, the only other thing we know about the show is that it’ll be run by Cheo Hodari Coker (Southland, Ray Donovan), but further details should be with us fairly soon, so stay tuned!
