With such a colorful (read: insane) roster of characters primed to wreak all sorts of havoc in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight later this year, it was only a matter of time before we got stylized posters revealing each of the titular motley crew.

Arriving via Entertainment Weekly is the first in what is likely to be a series, today’s debutant spotlights Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh’s two central leads, who are on board to play bounty hunter John Ruth and Daisy Domergue, respectively. Adopting titles not unlike those found in Reservoir Dogs, Russell’s gun-toting persona is known as “The Hangman,” while Domergue is his “Prisoner.”

Set against a post-Civil War Wyoming, The Hateful Eight will center around the titular group of outlaws who all find themselves marooned in one location when a thick blizzard engulfs the area. Having assembled the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Zoe Bell and Bruce Dern, Tarantino’s latest is shaping up to be another action romp, only this time there’s a twist: the director has went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the western is broadcast in the premium 70mm format in select theaters across the state.

According to early reports of The Hateful Eight, every frame of the footage shown has been strikingly beautiful, so it’s understandable that the auteur is ensuring that the projection of the film matches the production’s high standard for quality.

The Hateful Eight will open in 70mm on December 25 before opening in standard digital theaters on January 8.

In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff.
