Sony has today confirmed that PlayStation Plus subscribers across mainland Europe and the United Kingdom will begin paying more for the service from September 1.

First reported by Push Square, the price hike will only affect the one month and three month subscription offerings, though the Japanese giant has detailed the exact amount of the increase.

Here’s the official word from Sony’s UK arm:

“We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content,” reads the statement. “From 1st September we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PlayStation Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features.”

There’s still a lot of specifics still to be ironed out about the PlayStation Plus price increase, including whether the jump will have an impact on the subscription service for those in North America and other territories. With still three weeks before Sony’s plan to implement the new tiers takes into effect, we’re sure to find out more sooner rather than later.

Currently, PlayStation Plus’ Instant Game Collection is hosting the likes of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones, which topline the software freebies for the month of August. Additionally, Sony is also gunning to incorporate player feedback into the monthly routine with the new-fangled Vote to Play feature.
