It only hit Netflix last Friday, but the online streaming service has already renewed Narcos for a second season. As a result, it can be added to the long list of successful original dramas that they’ve produced; House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Marco Polo, Bloodline, Sense8, Daredevil, and a number of others have all received renewals from Netflix in recent years as well as serious awards attention.

The second season of the drug trafficking drama revolving around Pablo Escobar and the DEA agents who set out to take him down doesn’t have a premiere date just yet, but common sense says it will return around the same time next year. Adam Fierro will serve as the new showrunner, as Chris Brancato has left to work on Kings and Prophets for ABC. Fierro has plenty of experience in TV though, as he’s previously worked on shows like 24, Dexter, and The Walking Dead.

Reviews for Narcos have been positive, with Wagner Moura receiving the lion’s share of praise for his take on the drug kingpin. Boyd Holbrook and Pedro Pascal also did great work in the show though, and picking up with all of these characters for what will presumably be another 10 episode run should be very exciting indeed, as it really is a fascinating story to watch unfold.
