Featuring a new gameplay mechanic called Runewords, Heart of Stone is primed to shake up gameplay in a major way, with CD Projekt Red noting that “each Runeword will impact a different aspect of in-game mechanics and will allow the players to experiment with various strategies and tactics.” For a RPG that welcomes different playstyles with open arms, fans of Wild Hunt will be pleased to note that that intoxicating, liberating freedom will remain intact throughout the expansion.

Said to contain around 10 hours of additional content for $8.50, The Witcher III: Wild Hunt‘s maiden expansion is but an appetizer for the main course, with Blood & Wine arriving early next year tethered with a $20 price tag. Together, both DLC bundles will reportedly contain close to 30 hours of content with a sprawling story that rivals that of The Witcher II. Expect new monsters to slay, potions to brew and romances to indulge in.

CD Projekt Red will debut Heart of Stone, the maiden expansion pack for The Witcher III: Wild Hunt, across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 13.
