First TV Spot And New Poster Released For Creed

When Creed was announced, eye rolls ensued across the internet. No one expected much from what initially sounded like a poor excuse to make another Rocky movie, but as the cast was assembled and the first footage was shown off in an emotional trailer, it became clear that this is a movie which is well worth getting excited about.

Chronicle and Fantastic Four star Michael B. Jordan will play Adonis Creed, the son of former heavyweight champion Apollo (played by Carl Weathers in the original movies). Sylvester Stallone, meanwhile, reprises his role as Rocky Balboa and the film will follow Adonis after he discovers that he has a talent for boxing, leading to him tracking down Rocky and asking him to become his trainer/mentor.

Creed was written by Ryan Coogler (who worked with Jordan on Fruitvale Station), and he’ll also direct. Other stars include Graham McTavish, Tessa Thompson, Wood Harris, and Phylicia Rashad.

Both this first TV spot and the new poster offer up a great look at what’s to come in Creed, and in a Winter with huge releases like Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’ll definitely be a shame if the movie is overlooked when it’s released on Thanksgiving weekend.
