There were rumours that Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror might be coming to Netflix, and today, it has finally been confirmed that a total of twelve episodes will hit the online streaming service in the near future. The premiere date has not yet been revealed just yet, and it’s also unclear whether or not all twelve instalments will be released at once or have some sort of staggered release.

What we do know for sure is that series creator Brooker is writing all of them and will serve as an executive producer. That means there’s no need to worry about this new wave of Black Mirror episodes failing to live up to what’s come before. In fact, Brooker sounds quite enthusiastic about bringing the dark and twisted series (which originally aired on Channel 4 in the UK) to Netflix:

“It’s all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable. Netflix connects us with a global audience so that we can create bigger, stranger, more international and diverse stories than before, whilst maintaining that Black Mirror feel. I just hope none of these new story ideas come true.”

To date, there have only been six episodes of Black Mirror and one Christmas special. They’ve all attracted an impressive wealth of talent, but found worldwide recognition when the show reached Netflix and rapidly increased in popularity.

Tell us, what kind of topics would you like to see Black Mirror address when it hits Netflix? A binge watching episode has to be in there somewhere, right?
