Since its announcement, over one million Call of Duty fans have registered for Activision’s new Call of Duty Elite service. Coming in two distinctly separate offerings – one free and one paid, the service offers veterans of the series stat tracking and community features.

Though Elite will not be fully functioning until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 hits store shelves, the publisher announced that it will begin an invitation-only beta on July 14. Confused? Further information reveals that the beta test will be first performed using last year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops.

There are still some unknowns about the service, such as what paying will get you over registering for free. Though the beta announcement offers invitees a chance to “taste the experience.” Whatever that means is up to interpretation at this point.
