Jane Got A Gun Finds New Poster Starring Natalie Portman

One would look far and wide to find a modern production that fell foul to numerous pitfalls in the manner of Jane Got a Gun. For the longest time, it seemed the troubled Western would never find its way out of development hell, with actor changeovers and the exit of director Lynne Ramsay at the 11th hour threatening to clip the film's wings before it began in earnest; still, we've arrived at a point in time when the bandit thriller is finally nearing a release date, and The Weinstein Company has debuted a brand new poster to prove it.

One would look far and wide to find a modern production that fell foul to numerous pitfalls in the manner of Jane Got a Gun. For the longest time, it seemed the troubled Western would never find its way out of development hell, with actor changeovers and the exit of director Lynne Ramsay at the 11th hour threatening to clip the film’s wings before it began in earnest; still, we’ve arrived at a point in time when the bandit thriller is finally nearing a release date, and The Weinstein Company has debuted a brand new poster to prove it.

Placing star Natalie Portman front and center as the titular heroine, the international one-sheet is a stylish, sun-kissed tease of what’s to come from the thriller. Supplanting Ramsay in the director’s chair (was she really in it in the first place?) is Warrior‘s Gavin O’Connor, with Jane Got a Gun set to orbit around Portman’s title character and her quest to save her outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich) from the clutches of a group of malicious bandits.

While casting proved to be the biggest thorn in the film’s side early on – both Jude Law and Michael Fassbender were once attached to the vehicle before dropping out – the bankruptcy of original studio Relativity only added fuel to the fire. Thankfully, though, The Weinstein Company pinpointed a glimmer of hope hidden beneath the much-touted drama and picked up the rights to distribute.

Joining Portman and Emmerich for the Western are Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, Noah Emmerich, Rodrigo Santoro and Boyd Holbrook.

After some reshuffling behind the scenes, Jane Got a Gun will finally ride off into the sunset when The Weinstein Company release the long-gestating Western in February 2016 in the States – a few months after its bow in Europe on November 25.
