Elizabeth Olsen Touches Base On Scarlet Witch’s Love Interest With The Vision In Captain America: Civil War

Another day, another flurry of reports coming out of Captain America: Civil War. After referring to her character of Scarlet Witch as the threequel's undisputed wild card along with entertaining the idea of a spinoff film for Wanda Maximoff, it is Elizabeth Olsen once again who is teasing the tenacious nature of her supernatural Avenger, and this time there's a nugget related to her relationship with the Vision.

Another day, another flurry of reports coming out of Captain America: Civil War. After referring to her character of Scarlet Witch as the threequel’s undisputed wild card along with entertaining the idea of a spinoff film for Wanda Maximoff, it is Elizabeth Olsen once again who is teasing the tenacious nature of her supernatural Avenger, and this time there’s a nugget related to her relationship with the Vision.

Before that, though, the actress spoke more about the evolution of Scarlet Witch, and why audiences will see the budding new recruit to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes really “coming into her own” in Joe and Anthony Russo’s follow-up. I guess Hawkeye’s speech during the climax of Age of Ultron really made the world of difference.

During an interview with USA Today, Olsen went into detail about the dramatic conflict that her character faces, and hinted at why the remainder of the Avengers fear her in the first place.

“[She’s] coming into her own and starting to understand and have conflict with how she wants to use her abilities,” Olsen stated. “It’s a dramatic conflict within her and obviously there’s conflict within the (Avengers) as well. I like that they didn’t release Scarlet Witch in the promo photos for the teams — it places her as being a wild card, and I like her having that kind of edge that people don’t know what she’s capable of. They can fear her because she is so incredibly powerful in a different way than the rest of the heroes for the most part. I like playing that role within the gang.”

Further along in the piece, the actress then went on to offer up some fresh details regarding her relationship with Paul Bettany’s sentient android the Vision, who is now infused with the power of the Mind Stone. Indeed, Olsen even went so far as to suggest a standalone movie for both her character and the Vision, though admitted such an offshoot is highly unlikely.

“It has to be House of M,” she said. “That’s still all I want to do, I don’t care. I would just love to have make-believe children and have him play along with it and then just decide to destroy all mutants. That would be so fun but obviously that would never happen.”

Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: Civil War will jump-start Marvel’s Phase Three when it lands in theaters on May 6, 2016.
