The first official images from the sixth episode of Supergirl have been revealed, and they offer up our best look yet at Red Tornado. A hero in the comic books, it was initially reported that he would be a villain in the CBS series, but the recently released description for “Red Faced” shed some light on his actual role.
In Supergirl, Red Tornado will be a military cyborg commissioned by Lucy Lane’s father, General Sam Lane (Glenn Morshower), and when personal and professional stress get the better of Kara, it sounds like she ends up going too far when the young hero is pitted against him in a training exercise.
Another interesting reveal in the synopsis was the fact that Alex enlists Winn to look into her father’s mysterious death, which is a surprising revelation, especially as it was thought that Dean Cain (who played the Man of Steel in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) would be a regular presence in Supergirl.
Red Tornado is the focus of these new images though, and while the look of the character has been somewhat controversial among fans – well, more ridiculed than controversial – the battle between these two definitely looks like it will be a lot of fun (the show has really delivered on the action front so far).
