Vixen Confirmed To Appear On Arrow

Arrow fans have another reason to jump for joy, for its ever expanding universe just added another superhero. Arrow fans have another reason to jump for joy, for its ever expanding universe just added another superhero. Technically, that hero already existed in the form of some animated shorts released on the CW Seed online streaming service, but now the character will make her first ever live action appearance on an upcoming episode of Arrow.

Yes, we are talking about Vixen, who will be played by the very same actress who voiced her in the animated shorts: Megalyn Echikunwoke. This instance of continuity should come as no surprise because the producers intentionally cast a voice actress for the animated shorts that could one day pull it off in live action. In that sense, this is an announcement we knew was coming, but were waiting to hear.

“We’re not only thrilled to be further expanding our DC television universe by bringing in the live-action incarnation of the CW Seed hit, Vixen, we’re immensely excited that Megalyn will be revisiting her role as Mari McCabe,” Marc Guggeheim, executive producer for both Arrow and Vixen, told TV Insider.

You can look forward to seeing Vixen’s first appearance on Arrow Season 4, Episode 15, which is tentatively scheduled to air on February 24. Given the fact that crossovers are all the rage in what the online community has dubbed the “Arrow-verse,” it is highly possible that Vixen will one day show up on The Flash or DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Arrow airs Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm EST on The CW, with new episodes returning on January 20.
