Ben Affleck “Very Pleased” With Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Rough Cut, According To Matt Damon

Ben Affleck has spoken before of his apprehension going into Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice - understandable, given that he's primed to play the Caped Crusader for the next generation of DC films - but even though there is a "ton of pressure" riding on next year's superhero showdown, the actor is "very pleased" with how the film is shaping up in post-production.

Ben Affleck has spoken before of his apprehension going into Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice – understandable, given that he’s primed to play the Caped Crusader for the next generation of DC films – but even though there is a “ton of pressure” riding on next year’s superhero showdown, the actor is “very pleased” with how the film is shaping up in post-production.

At least, that’s according to The Martian star and Affleck’s cohort Matt Damon. He sat down with Variety for an exhaustive piece about his own career, his starring role in Ridley Scott’s acclaimed feature, and why he doesn’t fancy himself to enter the superhero genre anytime soon. He does have his hands full with a certain Jason Bourne, after all.

Though Damon himself is yet to see Dawn of Justice –  or, at least, the early cut that’s available – the actor revealed that Affleck’s first reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

And I hear [“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”] is good. I haven’t seen it yet but he’s seen a rough cut and I think he’s very pleased. But no, I don’t know that there are any comic book characters left.

Actors speaking highly of their own projects is nothing new, and Affleck’s knee-jerk thoughts on Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice are in no way indicative of the quality of the film. Even still, this is an actor that has experienced a botched superhero feature first hand with, whisper it, Mark Steven Johnson’s 2003 Daredevil, so we’re hoping there’s some value in Affleck’s latest comments.

We’ll find out one way or the other when Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice roars into theaters on March 25, 2016.
