Clark Gregg Talks Difference Between The Movie And TV Versions Of The Inhumans

If rumours are to be believed, there's something of a divide between the movie and television divisions of Marvel. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has picked up on many plot threads from the various big screen outings of The Avengers, the events of the ABC series have not yet had any sort of impact on the movies, but what does that mean for the Inhumans?

If rumours are to be believed, there’s something of a divide between the movie and television divisions of Marvel. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has picked up on many plot threads from the various big screen outings of The Avengers, the events of the ABC series have not yet had any sort of impact on the movies, but what does that mean for the Inhumans?

They’re currently making their presence felt in the show in a big way, but will we see any of them in the 2019 movie from Marvel Studios? Based on comments from Clark Gregg, it doesn’t sound like we should expect any major crossovers.

“The Inhumans movie I suspect will be its own cinematic version. That writer and director will have free reign to do what they want to do with the Inhumans. But hopefully there’ll be some way that our Inhumans connect to that. It’d be too bad if that was wasted.”

He’s not wrong about all the world building that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is doing being wasted if Inhumans doesn’t pick up on that, but as the events of that movie are unlikely to take place on Earth, chances are that it isn’t going to have a huge impact on that Phase 3 release. Plus, there’s nothing to even say this show will still be on the air three years from now (it’s not exactly a ratings hit, unfortunately).

Gregg then went on to weigh in on how the series is going about handling crossovers like this and why they both are and aren’t important to its success:

“What’s kind of necessary for the show to work is that it is its own thing and it’s not dependant upon those crossovers. They’re just fun stuff that happens once in a while. They destroy the organisation our show is named after and we have to deal with that! I’ll be interested to see how it evolves, that crossover stuff.”

Would you like to see more connectivity between Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Marvel movies? Let us know your thoughts on that and these Inhumans details below.
