Jada Pinkett Smith Set To Return To Gotham

Those who viewed the Season One finale of Gotham saw Jada Pinkett Smith's character, Fish Mooney, seemingly fall to her death during the climactic battle with The Penguin. While Oswald Cobblepot was quick to declare himself "King of Gotham," many fans, such as myself, were quick to point out that we never saw a body. Fish has since been name dropped on several occasions as a handful of characters remain confident that she will one day make her triumphant return to Gotham City and reclaim her throne, so to speak.

Those who viewed the Season One finale of Gotham saw Jada Pinkett Smith’s character, Fish Mooney, seemingly fall to her death during the climactic battle with The Penguin. While Oswald Cobblepot was quick to declare himself “King of Gotham,” many fans, such as myself, were quick to point out that we never saw a body. Fish has since been name dropped on several occasions as a handful of characters remain confident that she will one day make her triumphant return to Gotham City and reclaim her throne, so to speak.

Even Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller once said the following:

“I would definitely not assume anything in a town like Gotham. It’s very unpredictable, the comic book world.”

Well, now we know that Fish will be back ,and there’s going to be trouble.

TV Line has learned that Jada Pinkett Smith will indeed reprise her role as the ruthless, calculating crime boss for several episodes later in Season Two. Although they did get confirmation from Fox regarding her return, the exact details of how the character will make her presence know have not yet been disclosed.

It’s interesting to note that they make reference to Hugo Strange (set to be played by B.D. Wong) and the mysterious facility known as Indian Hill. Whether or not this is an assumption or a thinly veiled hint is not clear, but the thought of Strange’s subordinates collecting Fish’s body from the river would make a bit of sense and feel like an organic way of reintroducing the character. It would also explain what she has been up to during her prolonged absence.

Gotham returns on Monday, February 29 on Fox. Tell us, are you excited to have Fish Mooney back? Sound off below and let us know.
