Texture pop-ins and framerate issues have threatened to cast a shadow over Campo Santo’s lush rendition of the Wyoming wilderness, and recently the developer took to Reddit to assure early Firewatch adopters its working “around the clock” to resolve those hitches that have reared their head on PlayStation 4.

In fact, Campo Santo is “super fucking bummed” that these technical issues exist in the first place. According to studio co-founder Sean Vanaman, when Firewatch was tested on PS4 dev kits no framerate issues were detected, nixing any suggestions that the studio had “saw this stuff and went ‘eh, screw it, sell it anyway.'”

Per Reddit.

“We’re really trying, I promise! I’ve played the game for hundreds and hundreds of hours on PS4, and maybe because it’s on test-kits and some retail boxes are different I personally didn’t experience these things. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist, but I want to unequivocally say it wasn’t like we sat in a room, saw this stuff and went ‘eh, screw it, sell it anyway.’ We’re super fucking bummed that this is happening for some people and we’re working actually, literally, around-the-clock on it.”

No word yet on when those fixes will be released, though we’ll keep you posted as more information comes to light. Firewatch is currently available across PlayStation 4 and PC, and you can get our verdict on Campo Santo’s stellar debut via Eric Hall’s in-depth review.
