Game of Thrones alum Finn Jones could be making his bow as Marvel’s Iron Fist much sooner than expected, but he won’t be joined by Shang-Chi.

Contrary to previous reports, Bleeding Cool now claims that the character isn’t a part of Netflix’s standalone superhero series. First emerging shortly after the casting of Jones in the title role, the rumor even went so far as to suggest that the Master of Kung-Fu would get a spinoff of his own, but in citing sources close to production, the outlet is reporting that no such plans are in place.

Word of Shang-Chi’s involvement – or lack thereof – comes mere days after we learned that Jones could be making his debut as Danny Rand/Iron Fist much sooner than expected. Appearing on the Collider Heroes podcast, Gonzales suggested that Jones’ martial arts expert will feature in the season finale of Luke Cage opposite Mike Colter, similarly to how Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple made a brief appearance towards the tail-end of Jessica Jones. Said Gonzales: “Yes he is. Episode 13. That’s why it was announced, or else it would have leaked … They shot him last week.”

With Finn Jones now on board as Danny Rand, expect Iron Fist to pummel its way onto Netflix in the early stages of 2017. Should Gonzales’ report prove accurate, though, we can look forward to a small cameo role in Luke Cage later this year.
