Buoyed by the stealth release of 10 Cloverfield Lane, which has taken in a healthy $68 million at the time of writing, J.J. Abrams’ producing streak is set to continue with an adaptation of Greg Grunberg’s two-part graphic novel, Dream Jumper.

Paramount has snapped up rights for the feature film, with Abrams producing via his Bad Robot banner in tandem with Lindsey Weber. With the first installment set to be published in June of this year, one question that still looms large over the studio’s adaptation is whether it will take the live-action or animated route in its path to the big screen.

Co-written and illustrated by Lucas Turnbloom, Dream Jumper follows “a boy who discovers he can jump into other people’s dreams. But that power turns into a nightmare, literally, when his friends begin falling into an endless sleep and something in the dream world wants the boy’s abilities for itself.”

Abrams’ Bad Robot is also primed to fire up production on sci-fi pic God Particle, after recently securing David Oyelowo (Selma) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Concussion) in key roles. Dream Jumper, on the other hand, is still on the hunt for a writer to pen the screenplay, before it begins casting the net in search of an ensemble. The first part of Greg Grunberg and Lucas Turnbloom’s graphic novel will hit store shelves on June 28, 2016.
