“This is a rebellion, isn’t it? I rebel,” Jyn Erso defiantly states in the wonderful first teaser for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Yes, Gareth Edwards’ grimy military spinoff is the talk of the town in light of this morning’s trailer reveal, showcasing the first of Disney and Lucasfilm’s planned Anthology films in stunning fashion. Whether you’re still reeling from the footage or simply want to delve a little deeper, a bevy of screenshots have arrived offering a play-by-play breakdown.

Anchoring the galactic heist thriller is Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso, a convict who appears to have a long history on the wrong side of the law. But one meeting with Rebel leader Mon Mothma later and she’ll be scrambling a team of rogue X-Wing pilots to steal plans for the Death Star at a time when the Empire is approaching the peak of its power.

Darth Vader is coming to power, Grand Moff Tarkin paces the corridors of the Death Star and squadrons of Deathtroopers rain down chaos across numerous planets – including a truly jaw-dropping action shot of four AT-ATs shooting up a tropical beach – driving home the point that Jones’ tenacious lead is up against it.

Rounding out the stellar cast are Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed and Mads Mikkelsen as the film’s villain. If Gareth Edwards’ track record with Godzilla is any indication, don’t expect to see much of Mikkelsen’s big bad – possibly a CG big bad in the vein of Snoke? – for some time yet.

There has been an awakening, have you felt it? Rogue One: A Star Wars Story punches it all the way into theaters on December 16.
