R-Rated Version Of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Could Get A Theatrical Release

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn't been a flop, but Warner Bros. are still disappointed (especially as it's unlikely to reach $1 billion). After a record breaking opening weekend, ticket sales have fallen dramatically, a sign that after the initial rush of people keen to see these two icons together on the big screen, repeat business and word of mouth was almost non-existent.

However, seemingly hoping to increase those box office takings, a new report claims that the studio is considering a theatrical release for that upcoming R-Rated “Ultimate Cut.”

Clocking in at three hours, that gives it a good thirty minutes of never before seen footage, but will moviegoers want to re-watch a longer version of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice after not enjoying it the first time? If nothing else, comic book fans would certainly flock to this one, and positive reviews could at least stoke the interest of the general public.

Regardless, this is a plan that could either backfire on Warner Bros. or pay off big time by taking Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice past $1 billion worldwide, a figure it needs to reach to really be considered a hit in a marketplace where even Deadpool has topped $750 million.

For now, we’re just going to have to wait and see how all this plays out, but tell us, would you be interested in watching an R-Rated cut of the film? Sound off below and let us know.
