Bryan Cranston Risks Life And Limb As The Infiltrator In Tense First Trailer

We've seen Bryan Cranston preside over a drug cartel before as the glowering anti-hero Heisenberg, and throughout Vince Gilligan's Breaking Bad, the actor's power-mongering alter-ego only descended further and further into villainy. But thrusting Cranston toward the other side of the law today is The Infiltrator, Broad Green Pictures' new narcotics thriller that has premiered its very first trailer.

Whisking moviegoers back to the 80s, at a time when the crazy fashion was matched only by the eccentric facial hair, today’s snippet introduces us to Robert “Bob” Mazur, one of the best undercover agents in the business who risked life and limb to, ahem, infiltrate the drugs ring operated by the infamous Pablo Escobar.

Posing as a slick and street-wise money-launderer, Cranston’s means of cracking the criminal network involves befriending Escobar’s next in command, Roberto Alcaino (Benjamin Bratt). One false step, though, and it’ll all be for naught, and today’s trailer drives home the point that, yes, Broad Green’s feature will likely have you rooted to the edge of your seat throughout. Diane Kruger, John Leguizamo, Yul Vazquez and Amy Ryan complete the cast, with director Brad Furman calling the shots from behind the lens.

Look for Bryan Cranston to don the aviators and mean attitude as The Infiltrator when Broad Green debuts the narcotics drama on July 15 here in the States.

Based on a true story, Federal agent ROBERT “BOB” MAZUR (Bryan Cranston) goes deep undercover to infiltrate Pablo Escobar’s drug trafficking scene plaguing the nation in 1986 by posing as slick, money-laundering businessman Bob Musella. Teamed with impulsive and streetwise fellow agent EMIR ABREU (John Leguizamo) and rookie agent posing as his fiancé KATHY ERTZ (Diane Kruger), Mazur befriends Escobar’s top lieutenant ROBERTO ALCAINO (Benjamin Bratt). Navigating a vicious criminal network in which the slightest slip-up could cost him his life, Mazur risks it all building a case that leads to indictments of 85 drug lords and the corrupt bankers who cleaned their dirty money, along with the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, one of the largest money-laundering banks in the world.
