Over the past few weeks, we’ve been getting casting announcements for James Mangold’s follow up to The Wolverine that have left fans very confused in terms of what they should be expecting from the story. That’s mainly down to none of the characters being revealed along with the casting news, and that continues with the latest addition.
Variety reports that 53 year-old actor/director Eriq La Salle (ER, Coming To America, 24) will also join Hugh Jackman for his final turn in the claws, but no other details are provided as to who he may be playing.
For quite a while, it was generally assumed that this Wolverine flick would at least partially take influence from Mark Millar’s acclaimed Old Man Logan comic arc, but because none of these roles are being specified, it’s very difficult to speculate any further.
We do know a few things about some of the other newcomers, though. Narcos star Boyd Holbrook will play the lead villain, British veteran Richard E. Grant is said to be a “mad scientist type,” and rumor has it that actresses are currently being looked at for X-23 – but that’s big grain of salt stuff for the time being.
We’re sure more substantial information is forthcoming, as principal photography on The Wolverine 3 is set to commence pretty soon to meet its March 2017 release date, and as soon as we hear more we’ll be sure to let you know.
