Deadline is reporting today that Adam Beach will be co-starring alongside Christian Bale in Hostiles, which will reunite The Dark Knight actor with his Out of the Furnace director, Scott Cooper.
Set to take place in 1892, the film will tell the story of an Army captain who escorts a “dying Cheyenne war chief (Wes Studi) and his family back to tribal lands.” Bale will step into the role of the captain, while Beach is playing a character named Black Hawk. Also on board are Jesse Plemons in an undisclosed role and Rosamund Pike as a young widow, with the screenplay being written by Donald Stewart.
No further details were given at the time of writing, but with Cooper coming off the mildly successful Black Mass, and Beach appearing in theatres shortly for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, we’re certainly looking forward to seeing what the two of them do next.
Of course, having Bale take the lead role here should be great as well, as despite the mixed reviews, he did some very solid work the last time he teamed up with Cooper, in the aforementioned Out of the Furnace.
Now that most of the core cast seems to be set, expect production on Hostiles to get going shortly. When we have more updates, we’ll be sure to let you know.
