Launched back in 2014, Deadly Class is the brainchild of Rick Remender, Wes Craig and Lee Loughridge and hails from Image Comics. It centers on the experiences of a youngster named Marcus Lopez during the late ’80s, and in particular, his school days at a prestigious establishment.

Here’s the brief show synopsis from the source:

The Deadly Class TV series is an unlikely coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of late 80’s counter culture which follows a disillusioned teen recruited into a storied high school for assassins. Maintaining his moral code while navigating a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties may prove fatal.

The Russos will collaborate with Remender on the adaptation – he’ll co-write with Miles Field. The show is currently in the early stages at Sony Pictures TV, with plans to shop the project around to networks and streaming platforms once ideas become more fixed.

With the current climate of comic book adaptations taking both the big and small screen by storm, it likely won’t take very long for Sony to reach an agreement with an outside party — especially considering the Russos’ popularity. Not only are Marvel’s wunderkind cooking up the two-part Avengers sequel, Infinity War, but they’re also hard at work plotting a modern update on The Warriors. Here’s hoping they can manage to slot Deadly Class into their hectic schedule.
