It was revealed at Comic-Con that The Flash‘s third season will kick off in an alternate “Flashpoint” reality created by Barry Allen after he decided to travel back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash. How long that will be the status quo for remains to be seen, but we do know that Wally West is going to be The Flash in this timeline.

Now, in new photos from the set of The CW series, we see Barry watching on as Kid-Flash takes on the show’s mysterious new speedster. There’s still no word on who this character is, but it’s believed that he’s going to be one of two big bads used in The Flash this year.

He bears a striking resemblance to the Black Racer, a character who is essentially the Grim Reaper of the DC Universe and the same being as the Black Flash. It’s also believed that the man beneath the mask is The Vampire Diaries alum Todd Lasance, though knowing that obviously doesn’t help shed any light on his character.

Either way, season three of The Flash is going to be very interesting, especially with a new timeline featuring vastly different versions of familiar faces. The show leaving things like that forever would not go down particularly well, so chances are that the Fastest Man Alive will put things right soon enough. For now, though, it looks like he has his hands full with some other speedsters.
