Report: Suicide Squad Will Come Packing Mid-Credits Scene, But No Post-Credits Sting

Comic Book claims David Ayer's Suicide Squad will land in theaters next week tethered with a mid-credits scene. There's no mention of a post-credits sting.

With Suicide Squad press kits beginning to pour out of Warner Bros., these past few days have brought forth a bevy of new details pertaining to David Ayer’s anti-hero bonanza.

First and foremost, the film’s credits revealed that, in line with previous rumors, another member of the Justice League will be descending on the streets of Midway alongside Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader. There’s also scores of new images and TV spots to pour over in anticipation of next week’s release.

Bouncing off that credits tidbit, ComicBook.com is reporting that Suicide Squad will come packing a “pivotal” mid-credits sequence on August 5 but, crucially, no post-credits sting. That is subject to change, of course, and it could be that David Ayer and Co. are keeping said sequence under wraps until the lights go down late next week.

Whatever the case, here’s the report per Comic Book:

After the credits sequence rolls (that’s also called the “bumper,” the part before the plain black-and-white names and characters part rolls), using the same stylized hyper-colored imagery they’ve used in the posters and character art, there’s one more scene waiting for you on the other side. It’s pivotal and important, too.

There is not, however, an after-credits scene. While Marvel Studios frequently makes use of both, giving a major story beat in the mid-credits, and an extra tease or sometimes a joke post-credits, it seems DC Films/WB is not following suit. Of course, this is also based on early screenings, so it could change after the film itself is released. We’ve reached out to Warner Bros. for confirmation, and should they provide it, will update.

Suicide Squad is now a mere seven days from its theatrical release. If you want to cram in some last-minute homework, our own Sarah Myles recently offered a play-by-play breakdown of Task Force X, while there’s also a new feature that presents a detailed overview of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Beyond that, keep your peepers peeled on We Got This Covered early next week, with the film’s embargo set to lift on Tuesday, August 2.
