Rime, the long-in-development adventure title from Tequila Works, has been placed firmly back on track today after securing a new publisher in Grey Box and Six Foot, along with a 2017 release window to boot.

Confirming early reports to be true, Rime will no longer release as a PlayStation 4 exclusive next year, after Sony bumped the sun-kissed indie from its first-party portfolio amid reports of internal strife between the platform-holder and Tequila’s Studio Head, Raul Rubio.

It’s still in development, though, and an official statement confirms the studio’s partnership with Grey Box and Six Foot.

“We’ve always wanted Rime to captivate players’ imaginations, capturing that feeling of being a child and experiencing the wonders of a bedtime story for the first time. We’re so excited to find in Grey Box and Six Foot partners just as eager as we are to make that vision for such a personal project a reality.”

At its core, Rime is pitched as a “single-player puzzle adventure game about a young boy shipwrecked on a mysterious island after a torrential storm.” From there, “players must use their wits to decipher the challenges and secrets of an expansive world strewn with rugged terrain, wild creatures, and the crumbling ruins of a long-forgotten civilization.”

Part Wind Waker, part Shadow of the Colossus, Tequila Works’ Rime is expected to launch as a multi-platform title in 2017.
