Gamescom begins with a bang today, as Microsoft and The Coalition have released a brand new gameplay trailer for Gears of War 4 featuring JD Fenix and the rest of his team infiltrating an abandoned COG Fort in order to pursue an “unknown” enemy.
This isn’t just an ordinary, run-of-the-mill gameplay preview however. This particular reveal is the first one to show the third-person shooter running in glorious 4K resolution on Windows 10, so says the post over on Xbox Wire.
Starting today on the gamescom show floor, we’re excited to give fans their first opportunity to play Gears of War 4 on Windows 10 PC. Gears of War 4 is powered by a completely new rendering engine, with the Windows 10 version supporting comprehensive video settings, increased texture resolutions, dynamic resolution support up to 4K and more.
Running on an NVIDIA GTX 1080 GPU, the snippet of raw, gory action also showcases the level of texture quality PC players can expect to experience with a set-up of similar power, but you by no means need to have the latest and greatest tech to run the title comfortably.

Gears of War 4 launches for Xbox One and Windows 10 on October 11 and will take full advantage of Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program announced earlier in the year. Those that pre-order the game on either platform will gain access to a bunch of bonus content, including the ‘Old Man Marcus’ and ‘Zombie Dom’ characters.
