Colton Haynes Isn’t Currently Expected To Return As Arsenal In Arrow Season 5

Colton Haynes recently visited the set of Arrow, which quickly led to speculation that Arsenal would be making a return in the show's fifth season. Since deciding to leave The CW series, the actor has made a handful of appearances as Oliver Queen's former sidekick, so him reprising the role doesn't seem too outside the realm of possibility.

Colton Haynes recently visited the set of Arrow, which quickly led to speculation that Arsenal would be making a return in the show’s fifth season. Since deciding to leave The CW series, the actor has made a handful of appearances as Oliver Queen’s former sidekick, so him reprising the role doesn’t seem too outside the realm of possibility.

Unfortunately, when TV Line caught up with showrunner Wendy Mericle, she confirmed that there are no current plans for Roy Harper to head back to Star City this year.

Not to worry though, as there’s still a chance we could see him in Arrow at some point in the future:

“We would have Roy back in a heartbeat. If the right circumstances come up and the right storyline presents itself, absolutely.”

Arrow‘s fifth season will introduce a long list of new vigilantes, so whether or not there will even be room for Arsenal is hard to say. It was revealed in the finale that Felicity Smoak and Mr. Terrific will be helping Oliver out after Diggle and Speedy decided to move on, so the show building on that new dynamic may be a bigger priority than bringing back a familiar face for a quick cameo.

Still, there’s no denying that seeing more of Arsenal would be fun, so here’s hoping Arrow ends up finding a good story arc for him at some point in season five.
