Rob Liefeld, one of the founding fathers behind the Merc With a Mouth, has weighed in on the recent casting rumors surrounding Deadpool 2.

At the time of writing, Deadpool 2 is without an official release date to call its own – Tim Miller’s confirmed superhero sequel is said to be vacillating between October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018 – but that hasn’t quelled speculation pertaining to the Merc With a Mouth’s next outing.

Case in point: Last week, we brought you the news that Kyle Chandler And Mackenzie were reportedly being courted to join the cast of Deadpool 2. And though there’s no update to report on, the illustrious Rob Liefeld – one of the founding fathers behind the famed anti-hero – has asked fans to place their trust in Tim Miller and Co. before those unfounded rumors intensify.

Word comes by way of Nerdy Pop (via CBM), where Liefeld initially lumped praise on Kyle Chandler, who has continued to impress with roles across Wolf of Wall Street and Netflix’s Bloodline series.

I don’t know Kyle Chandler. I don’t know him. I don’t know if he’s ever going to play Cable, but we would be so lucky to have an actor as talented as Kyle Chandler, who has been in Martin Scorsese movies… Kyle Chandler is one of the best actors in Hollywood. People trip over themselves to work with him. If, by chance that rumor was true and the production was lucky enough to get somebody as talented as him, I would just trust in the people that gave you Deadpool to figure that out for the best.

One actor who appears to have ruled himself out of the race for Cable is Stephen Lang, after the Avatar star conceded that it’s unlikely he’ll board 20th Century Fox’s hotly-anticipated sequel. However that may be, Liefeld concluded by asking those rampant fans to “calm down” as Miller and his creative team – Ryan Reynolds included – go about crafting their follow-up.

I would just say, everybody calm down. My whole thing, I would have #TrustInTim, trust in Tim Miller the fantastic director, and trust in Ryan [Reynolds] our producer and genius performer, and Simon [Klingberg], and Rhett [Reese], and Paul [Wernick]. That’s what I would say.

Deadpool 2 is expected to leap before the cameras early next year.
