Westworld’s Key Art Comes From The Future

Marvel at the bleeding-edge key art for HBO's Westworld series ahead of the show's premiere on October 2.

Perched at the artificial confluence of the near future and the reimagined past, Westworld is a theme park like no other. It’s the brain child of Dr. Robert Ford – played here with mesmerizing intensity by the inimitable Anthony Hopkins – who presides over a technological haven riddled with unsettling secrets and, if you dig deep enough, societal paranoia.

Stoking excitement from the recent trailer reveal – an exercise in thought-provoking sci-fi if we do say so ourselves – HBO has now unveiled the Westworld key art ahead of the show’s premiere in little over a month’s time.

An homage to Leonardo da Vinci’s timeless Vitruvian Man, the artwork is a pointed reminder of Westworld‘s ability to blend the future with America’s Western history. That, and the high-profile talent attached to this new rendition, with co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy adorning the masthead along with executive producer J.J. Abrams.

Hailing from the latter side of history is Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood), who is one of the first artificial beings to become fully aware of its own existence. Social upheaval ensues.

Rounding out the cast list for HBO’s hotly-anticipated – and indeed long-awaited – reboot are Ed Harris, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan, Luke Hemsworth and Clifton Collins, Jr.

Westworld is currently making the final preparations to swing its doors open to the vying masses. Expect HBO’s new, one-hour drama will boot online on Sunday, October 2.
