The Flash Movie Casts Billy Crudup As Barry Allen’s Old Man

Watchmen and soon-to-be Alien: Covenant star Billy Crudup has joined the cast of The Flash movie as Barry Allen’s father, according to Variety.

Crudup, who is no stranger to working with Warner Bros. after donning the mo-cap suit for the role of Dr. Manhattan in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen, is said to be finalizing that deal and, should negotiations bear fruit, will soon be joining a cast comprised of Kiersey Clemon, Ezra Miller as Barry Allen himself and definitely not Ray Fisher.

Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) is the filmmaker behind the lens, having supplanted Seth Grahame-Smith in the director’s chair only a few shorts months ago. Though there were fears that Warner’s solo movie would grind to screeching halt after Grahame-Smith’s departure – the ol’ “creative differences” chestnut was cited as the main reason, but we understand the writer-director’s script is still be used by Famuyiwa – The Flash is finally beginning to take shape, and there’s even talk of a production start before the year’s end. If those plans hold true, expect plenty more casting news to surface in the coming months.

After cameo roles across both Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad – not to mention his upcoming role among DC’s finest for Snyder’s sole Justice League movie – Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster will make a beeline for the big screen when The Flash hits theaters on March 16, 2018. Billy Crudup, meanwhile, is part of the crew aboard Alien: Covenant, with Ridley Scott’s sci-fi sequel expected to dock on August 4, 2017.
