Dubbed “ebortS,” deadmau5 takes us on a lengthy journey into a sonic world formed from elements of his 2009 song, while offering up a more drastically altered version than anything present on the remix EP. Most of the remix focuses on clanking, distorted drum beats crashing together in a trip hop style, while bearing little resemblance to the original release. Midway through, the drums drop out for an ambient breakdown featuring the iconic synths from “Strobe.” The remix then resumes the beat driven section from earlier, which repeats until an icy pad draws it into silence.

It definitely makes for an interesting rendition of “Strobe,” though one can’t help but feel like deadmau5 could make an original tune out of “ebortS” with just some slight alteration. Either way, fans will no doubt be excited to grab a free, uncompressed demo of the remix.
