Dirtyphonics kick their “Closer” remix off innocently enough, focusing on the somber piano progression and Andrew Taggart’s vocals from the original song. Moving past the first verse, the band takes a wild turn with filthy synths, half time drumstep beats and a fat vocoder that repeats the phrase “we ain’t ever getting older.” After Halsey’s verse, the remix delivers a rapid fire drum and bass drop with hard hitting break beats and growling bass.

Compared to some of the other remixes we’ve heard of “Closer” so far, Dirtyphonics take things in a decidedly different direction with the drum and bass influence, while still retaining the catchy vocal hooks that propelled the song to hit status in the first place.

Dirtyphonics have offered up their new remix as a free download, so be sure to grab your own copy here.
