If you were getting excited at the idea of The Elders Of The Universe being part of the plot of the upcoming Marvel sequel, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2., then prepare to be disappointed, as writer-director James Gunn has officially shot down that recent rumour. Despite publicly refusing to comment any further on speculation about his new movie, this one was apparently ridiculous enough to warrant a response from the filmmaker on social media.
“Where do you guys get this nonsense? Who are all the people running around giving fake inside scoops to journalists?”
While it is undoubtedly reassuring for the studio to know that anticipation for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. is so high that people are apparently literally imagining what the storyline might entail, it must be frustrating for those trying to make the film to constantly feel the need to set the record straight, while maintaining some kind of mystery around the project. We do, after all, want there to be some surprises in store for us when it finally arrives onscreen.
So, irrespective of the rumours now floating around the internet, it looks like neither The Collector, Ayesha, or the unnamed character set to be played by Sylvester Stallone will be Elders Of The Universe playing an important role in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2. Whether or not Ayesha plays an important role as an individual, though, will be revealed when the film is released on May 5th, 2017.
