Allied Promo Finds Marion Cotillard And Brad Pitt Dicing With Death

With each promo, TV spot or full-length trailer that emerges for Allied, the upcoming WWII romantic drama starring Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, another layer of the Robert Zemeckis’ thriller peels away and given we’re little over a month out from release, we’re beginning to wonder whether the movie will be able to retain all of its twist and turns before bowing in theaters.

The latest tidbit is perhaps the most guilty Allied promo in the sense that it strays dangerously close to spoiler territory, teeing up a game of deception between Max Vatan (Pitt) and French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Marion Cotillard). Two seasoned spies, we always knew that there would be more to their passionate relationship than meets the eye, particularly when you consider that they’re dabbling in the cutthroat world of espionage circa 1942. Deception, lies, truth and love – four ingredients that combine for a thrilling, if a little revealing teaser. Let’s just hope Paramount Pictures doesn’t pull the trigger and unveil something truly spoiler-worthy before November 23.

Because on paper, Allied has all the makings of a bankable hit, infusing the star power of Brad Pitt and soon-to-be Assassin’s Creed star Marion Cotillard with an original story penned by Steven Knight of Peaky Blinders fame.

Allied, also starring Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Goode and Jared Harris, will deploy into theaters on November 23. Whether Zemeckis’ war drama, one that represents something of a creature departure for the visual effects maestro, plays well with the Academy is another question.
