After returning from a three year silence with their recent single “Starboy” with The Weeknd, Daft Punk‘s hype machine has officially gone into overdrive. Following the song’s release, rumors spread like wildfire about the possibility of a 2017 tour, which were debunked only to be reignited when a cryptic website started fueling the speculations again. Needless to say, the iconic duo seem to be on everyone’s mind lately and a new social media post is certainly keeping them there.
Before the release of “Starboy,” The Weeknd took to Instagram to share an image of two Daft Punk figures, prompting speculation over the collaboration before it was announced. Yesterday, he shared yet another image of a figure based off the robotic duo, which naturally has us wondering if it’s a clue that another joint effort with the French producers is on the way.
It should be noted that when Daft Punk contributed to Kanye West’s 2013 album Yeezus, they delivered not one but four productions for the rapper, so it wouldn’t be any stretch of the imagination to see them behind multiple songs with The Weeknd. It’s just a theory at this point, but stay tuned for additional updates if and when they become available.
