Formerly exclusive Wii U game LEGO City Undercover is headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2017, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced. Revealing the new multi-platform release over on Twitter, Warner Bros. says, “Join the chase! LEGO CITY Undercover is looking for new recruits on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and STEAM in Spring 2017.”

Originally released for Nintendo’s ill-fated console back in 2013, LEGO City Undercover is based on the LEGO City brand rather than various film, comic or game licences, and places you in control of Chase McCain: an undercover detective whose made it his mission to bring down crime boss Rex Fury. Featuring all of the usual trappings you’d expect of a sandbox title, McCain can commandeer over 100 different vehicles in order to traverse his blocky home town and take on several disguises, all with their own unique abilities.
Having been an exclusive, the Wii U version boasts full integration with the GamePad’s touch screen, with players able to scan their environment for hidden clues, receive mission updates and place waypoints. How all of these features will be woven into next year’s re-releases remains to be seen, but we imagine they’ll be integrated into the UI or simply removed altogether. Omitted from Warner Bros’ announcement, the LEGO Group has since clarified on Twitter (via PlayStationLifestyle) that the multi-platform versions will be remasters rather than ports, so fingers crossed for improved performance and loading times come spring next year.
