In the Infinity War comic arc, the embodiment of Death plays quite a big role – in fact, she’s the main reason Thanos goes about gathering the Infinity Stones and gauntlet, so he can wipe out all life in the universe in a twisted attempt to win her affections. As such, ans have been wondering if Mistress Death would show up in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War movie, and now we might just have an answer.

The piece of artwork below popped up online today, and is believed to be some leaked concept art from the film. Apparently, the creepy lady depicted is the aforementioned Mistress Death, but we haven’t been able to verify its legitimacy yet, so take this with a huge grain of salt for the time being.

Before the artwork sufaced, the prevailing theory was that Marvel would use Thor: Ragnarok villain Hela (Cate Blanchett) in place of Death to link the movies together and avoid having to map out and explain another backstory. Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige refused to confirm or deny this in a recent interview, but obviously if this art turns out to be on the level, we’ll know which character they decided to run with.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently shooting in Atlanta, and is set to hit theaters on May 4, 2018.
