With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild being one of next year’s hottest releases, fans are clamoring for just about any new information they can find about the title. And while it may not be the biggest reveal, even the debut of some brand-new art was enough to stoke fans’ burning passions when Nintendo’s official Facebook page showed it off in celebration of the holidays.
The first piece in the series, as you can see above, shows Link staying warm by a fire in a lovely winter scene — leading fans to speculate whether the picture indicates merely a snowy area, like the Snowpeak Ruins in Twilight Princess, or the existence full-fledged seasons for the game’s massive open world (seasons last served as a titular gameplay mechanic 15 years ago in the Capcom-developed Oracle of Seasons).
This second image shows one of the game’s mysterious Guardians — which made their awe-inspiring debut back in the game’s first trailer at E3 2014 — sporting some festive holiday lighting while Link peers out from a window nearby. It looks like someone’s rolled up a nice snow-Bokoblin, too!
The last image is some concept art of Link as he appears in Breath of the Wild. The alternate clothing off to the left seems to reference the ability for the hero to change outfits this time around, a far cry from his mandatory green tunic in previous entries.
The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild is set to release on Wii U and Nintendo Switch next year. Nintendo has yet to announce an official release date, but reports have indicated that the title may not launch with the new system as previously thought.
