Say what you will about Rockstar’s devotion to Grand Theft Auto Online – along with the subsequent lack of new content – but every time the developer gears up for a new release, a particular aura of infectious excitement descends on the industry.
Take Red Dead Redemption 2, for instance. Two months ago, the illustrious developer placed fans on red alert with a single, teasing image of the Rockstar logo plastered on a blood-red backdrop. That momentum quickly started to snowball in the ensuing days until the studio pulled back the curtain on the sequel’s barnstorming first trailer, which not only confirmed a return to the Wild West, but also that RDR2 would mosey on up to PS4 and Xbox One in the fall of next year. That release window is still very much the target, according to new promotional posters included in the gallery below.
As reported by GeekTyrant, these displays were spotted in GAME, the UK high-street retailer, and though they don’t reveal any new information pertaining to Red Dead Redemption 2, if nothing else, the standees all but confirm that Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel remains on course for fall 2017. That’s not to say RDR2 is exempt from being delayed closer to the time – Rockstar Games have postponed titles at the 11th hour before, remember – but given the follow-up has been brewing in development for the better part of five years, we feel confident that the dev team can hit that tentative release window.
Get ready to saddle up for another Western epic brimming with emotional depth; Red Dead Redemption 2 is due to arrive for PS4 and Xbox One late next year. Furthermore, owners of the former console will get “first access” to select online content, as per Sony’s content agreement with Rockstar.
